As per the sources, the Sony Xperia lineup will very soon receive an update of the Android’s new operating system, Nougat 7.0 probably at the end of 2016.
Sony has reportedly started pushing the Nougat beta to choose the Xperia handsets, especially the Xperia X Performance models. According to the reports, the update of Nougat 7.0 will be limited compared to the other updates that Android has released previously.
Meanwhile, reports are also coming out claiming that this latest update will be released only to a few people in some specific regions. And, the testing is also said to take place only among the selected users.
The features to expect with the 7.0 Nougat update includes integration of Stamina mode, minor changes to the notification shades and support for the split screen applications. Slight modifications are anticipated for the Sony specifics as well such as the manual shutter speed and the ISO control for the camera adjustment.
Sources say that only a few selected phones will be powered with the Android 7.0 Nougat. The gadgets, Google Pixel and Pixel XL come with 7.1 Nougat update, whereas the Nexus phones get the Android 7 update. With this, one can certainly anticipate the companies like LeEco and Xiaomi to come with the Android 7.1 update.
Previously, Samsung was also in news when it expressed its interest to adapt the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system for its latest models such as the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 5. The company had also hinted that it could transpire at the end of 2016. Apparently, those who are already using these specific Samsung models might receive a notification about the operating system update.
On the other hand, rumours are also doing rounds that specific models of Motorola, HTC, OnePlus and LG might also receive the update.
It is still not known as exactly when the update will be released, but users can expect it by the end of 2016 or in the early 2017.
