Comfortable journey with Hyderabad Metro rail
Hyderabad Metro Rail is a rapid transit system for the Hyderabad city, Telangana, India. In the year 2008, the metro rail project was proposed to meet the regular needs of the city’s growing population. In India, Hyderabad metro is one of the second longest operational metro networks after the Delhi Metro. The city covers the metropolitan and municipal corporation’s areas of the region. The metropolitan area covers 6,852 square kilometres, whereas municipal corporation area covers 625 kilometres. Let’s talk about it more briefly
Provide smoother journey experience
In the city of Hyderabad, only buses are the main public transportation system which has been operated by the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation which covers more than 19,000 vehicles. It also has a multi-modal transport system and light rail transportation service. There is a high growth of population and number of vehicles on the road and it is very difficult for the people to get a good transportation. To keep this problem in mind, Hyderabad Metro Rail has developed to give a smooth journey experience to the people.
The project of metro was designed with a capacity of 40,000 passengers per hour but later it was scaled up to 60,000 passengers per hours considering the increasing population of the city. There would be a frequency of the service which would be around one train every 5 minutes.
Financial support from state and federal government
The total estimated cost of the Hyderabad Metro project is $2.62bn. Only 20 percent of this would be given as part of government’s viability gap funding scheme. The state and federal government would offer financial support for 40% of the project cost for sure.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail – Brand Ambassadors Campaign was conceptualized and promoted by L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited.
Line routes and stations
The Hyderabad metro would have total three lines. Corridor 1 would be 29.87 km long and would run from south-east to the city north-west. It would connect 27 stations from LB Nagar and Miyapur. Corridor 2 would be 26.51km long and would run from east to west. It will contact 16 stations from Secunderabad to Falaknuma. At common stations all three lines would get interconnected. They would be one kilometre distance between each station.
Speed of the train
There are plans for the integration of the metro network with various other public transport systems like the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport and Multi-Modal Transport System. The speed of the train would be between 80 kmph and a minimum of 34 kmph. It would surely bring down travel time by a big margin. For example, the second corridor would reach the destination between Falaknuma and Jubilee Bus Station in 22 minutes. This distance would be covered in an hour by bus.
- All the stations would have special air-conditioned Merry-Go-Round mini bus services, providing easy access to the passengers for nearby places.
- There would be eco-friendly travel mode which would help in bringing down air pollution and noise pollution in the city.
- The stations architecture would have the latest designs and mix of local flavours.
- It has been planned recently that Government land would be used for the parking purpose.
