The youngest member of Xiaomi family is finally here in the Indian market with excellent features, and specifications. The new, Xiaomi Redmi 4A is an entry level smartphone, which will hugely attract masses in India, especially who prefer low budget or affordable phones. It is a successor to the brand’s first entry level smartphone – Redmi 1A, which made its entry way back in 2014. Besides, it is also an upgraded version of the Redmi 3 series. It is placed against the likes of Gionee, Samsung and Micromax in the budget segment.
This model was already introduced in China last year i.e. in 2016. With a price tag of just Rs. 5,999, the Xiaomi Redmi has now hit the Indian market in three amazing colour options, which are Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold to select from. It will be exclusively available in all the company owned e-stores and on Amazon shopping portal starting March 23, 2017 from 12pm onwards. Meanwhile, the Rose Gold variant will go on sale on the company’s official website from April 6, 2017.
The new Xiaomi Redmi 4A is powered by the 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC that is paired with Adreno 308GPU. This device is supported by the 4G VoLTE network of Reliance Jio and runs MIUI 8.0 based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and expandable up to 128GB through microSD card slot. The device sports a 5-inch HD display (720×1280 pixels) and an all-metal unibody design that gives it an attractive and unique appearance.
As for the camera segment, this gadget brings with it a 13-megapixel rear camera with aspects like 5P lens, records videos at 1080p, LED flash and PDAF. The front facing 5-megapixel camera with updated beautification mode is just ideal for making video calls and talking selfies. Besides, it features an IR blaster that can help control other electronic devices nearby or at home.
In terms of connectivity options, Xiaomi Redmi 4A gets Bluetooth, microUSB port, GPS, WiFi and features hybrid dual SIM. It packs a 3120mAh battery that supports quick charging. The smartphone includes sensors like ambient light, infrared, gyroscope and accelerometer. Moving to the dimensions, this budget phone measures 139.5×70.4×8.5mm and weighs 131.5 gm.
At the launch event, the company also revealed its plans about launching a successor to the Redmi Prime 3S in the days ahead.
